thailand trip 2007 final episode
|
|
aahhh..we have come to the end of my trip
to make a dramatic finale, i missed the flight home!!
ni semua pasal thai airways yang lambat berlepas
come to think of it, semua flight thai airways selama trip ni lambat 
so i had to take the late afternoon flight
which was 8 hours away!!!
bored of patong, i asked around
there's a beach near the airport about 30 minutes by foot
nama beach is naiyang beach
and whaddaya know..best sangat!!
nak masuk kena bayar rm2
lots of casuarina trees and shade
i just lied down under the trees looking out to the sea..
so nice..
this made up for the missed flight and overcommercialized patong
i highly recommend naiyang if you wanna kill time before a flight
the rest of phuket is too stressful!
finally the time came to go home
what a great travel
and next door pulak tu!!
touch down at 6.40 pm

one night in bangkok and the world's your oyster..
really, bangkok was the worst part of my trip
mungkin sebab bandar kot (dah biasa..)
but definitely a good place to shop and bargain
especially kat chatuchak market
even if you don't buy anything there, there is so much to see!
try staying around sukhumvit ke silom ke
must sees: grand palace, golden mount temple, thai kickboxing stadiums..
must watch: thai kickboxing fights (not necessarily at the stadiums)
and patpong (really freaky  )
and must do are thai massage at wat po (masa i pergi tutup pulak..)
and tea at the oriental
and naik bot along the canals (free dan quite extensive)
and tuk-tuk rides!!
pasal shopping centers pulak, i think biasa je
nak masuk kena scan beg 
paling best/terbaru was central world - ada next and mr donut!!
other than that biasa je, i guess
o yea, aku kena tipu kat grand palace tau!!
these gypsy-looking people forced me feed the birds
rm45 for a teeny bag of corn!!! geramnya.. 
do not ever layan them!!
tourist police tak banyak, mintak tolong kat polis biasa pun tak guna
they really spoiled my trip!!! grrrrr...

from the countryside to the metropolis!!
tapi flight delay!!! 
dahla bangun awal nak gi airport
kengkonon berlepas pukul 9.45 pagi
airlines lain pun dah fully booked
takda choice, lebih kurang pukul 5.00 baru bertolak
sampai bangkok (hotel) pun dah around 7.00pm
my hotel tu pun (trang hotel) tak best langsung
luar je lawa tapi interior so 70s dan burok
location pun tak bagus, nasib baik i suka jalan kaki
teksi dari bangkok airport ke hotel pulak thb1000
punyala taknak kena tipu dengan teksi biasa, naikla airport limo kan
rupa-rupanya teksi biasa lagi murah dan lagi ikut meter
are all these bad signs???

when i booked the northern thai trip,
i also booked a second trip for the next day
one whole day in a taxi around chiang mai
so it was just me, the driver and our vios
we went to bhuping palace (the king's summer palace),
the wat nearby, the handicraft area (sankhampaeng)
and the queen sirikit botanical garden
all these places tak pergi pun takpa (i found out later )
except for the handicraft area-very interesting
you can see for yourself how the paper umbrellas and thai silk are made
pasal the world-famous thai silk ni kan, they are produced in chiang mai
tapi lagi murah kat bangkok (paling murah kat chatuchak)
tapi kalau nak yang dijamin ori, belilah kat chiang mai..
sadly, harga tak boleh diskaun dan lagi mahal daripada harga kat kl plak tu!!
but guaranteed many colors and hues and prints..
i also went to gem store
thailand is one of the main producers of rubies and emeralds in the world
kedai tu beeeessaaaaaaarrr sangat, very cool interior (no cameras allowed)
so many jewellery and no two same designs
if bling-bling is your thing, then you have got to shop here
bangkok pun ada tapi kat chiang mai is obviously the better choice
later the day, i splurged on a spa treatment
one of the best in chiang mai
i couldn't help it!!

from the sea to the mountains!
chiang mai was THE best part of my trip
unfortunately, not a lot of info on the net
but there are so many things to do when you get there!
chiang mai has many elephant camps
so if you like trekking, you can join one of the many elephant treks available
ada yang beberapa jam, satu hari, 3 hari, seminggu, etc
where you also stop at tribal villages and camp in the jungle
anyway, i took up the one day northern thai trip
7.00am - 10.00pm inclusive of lunch, mineral water and hotel pickup/drop-off
itulah highlight di chiang mai
met many people, and went up all the way to the thai-myanmar-laos borders
must-must-must do!! 
bear in mind, the packages are way cheaper in chiang mai
lebih baik book kat sini daripada kat internet
tour agencies are everywhere and very informative + helpful 
murah, boleh tawar-menawar dan boleh customize trip kita
btw, chiang mai is a cute city
you can cover in a day or less
tarikan utama ialah night bazaar dan the old city
the old city is surrounded by a moat
and the gates are still around
i recommend staying around the tha pae gate
many cute guesthouses which turn into cool hang out spots at night
lots of good restaurants too (kalau dah bosan makan thai)
and many, many, many SPAS (chiang mai tempat belajar massage)
and the people are the friendliest of all the cities i went to

today is lepak day
again, walking in patong
did hair braids and a tattoo (touristnye.. )
and then walked over to baan rim pa
i got the best table (view of the coast)
and the ikan sedap sangat
sampai tak habis sebab terlalu kenyang
suitable for romantic dinners
but can get crowdy in the evenings
nite time i went to watch phuket fantasea
it's a disney+moulin rouge+carnival show
so fun! ada acrobatics, elephants, rain, explosives
not just on the stage, but above, behind and in front of you (how ah??)
almost full house and very well organized
ada pickup/drop off service, buffet and funfair too
sayang takleh amik gambar kat dalam
did i mention i had a facial before the show??

today i took up an island hopping tour
package included pickup and return, lunch, snacks, drinks, beach mat, and snorkel gear
speed boat to 4 islands:
bamboo island, phi phi don, phi phi leh and khai nok
although it was not peak season
the islands were crowded
and slightly hazy
i liked loh samah best
lots of fish and clear green water
tour starts from 8am and got back to patong around 7pm
but of course, a massage before returning to my hotel

eyaaaahhh!!! vacation time!!!
can you believe it, i hadn't gone anywhere this year before this trip?? 
going to thailand was an instant decision
selepas tak jadi going the other countries that i wanted to..
thank god for enrich, i got my kl-phuket return ticket for free!!
in thailand, i took up the visit thailand 2007 offer
4 local flights for rm1135 cheap!
1st stop: phuket
mission: relax!
i stayed at club bamboo
at patong but nearer to the hills and takes 15 minutes to walk to the beach
anyway there's a shuttle service every hour
the hotel was very cute
my room was windowless but complete and cosy
after checking in i terus pergi ke pantai
macam cenang (langkawi) tapi lagi crowded n happening
walked along the beach and made a u-turn back
discovered a new shopping mall-jungceylon-very nice salons
got carrefour too if you need anything
before hitting the sack: massage!
