spain trip 2008 part 9
|
|
and now i must continue my journey
tapi berhenti kat malaga dulu for a few hours
malaga was surprisingly very nice
although i didn't go up to the alcazar,
it looks worthwhile going there
(i heard the view is beautiful)
anyway, malaga is a big and modern city
for shoppers, the city center best jugak
many brands available in one place

spain trip 2008 part 8

to marbella or not: the verdict
marbella was a stopover for me on the way to granada
tak termasuk dalam plan sebab rasa macam dah commercialized sangat
so selepas duduk kat marbella sehari semalam
i rasa it wasn't bad after all
i got an adorable pension
pension aduar - you'll fall in love with it!
yang paling best is the waterfront
very well-maintained, and lives up to the marbella image
meaning, banyakle orang kaya (auntie/uncle yang vogue) along the streets
sambil menarik anjing yang dressed up macam chihuahua elle woods
and so many interesting places to eat/lepak
apapun, pantai marbella takla lawa sangat
brown sand and litter at certain spots
lepas tolak ruang untuk yatch orang kaya tu, wave breakers, etc,
tinggal la pantai sekangkang kera untuk bermandi-mandi
which is already occupied by dozens of sun chairs
bayangkan keadaan masa peak season..
so not my kind of beach
kalau nak berenang dalam laut mediterranean
go to torremolinos, tak jauh dari marbella
ombak kuat jugak, bersih
and near to residential area, so no uppety image

spain trip 2008 part 7
|
|
from tarifa my trip continued along the mediterranean coast
ataupun costa del sol yang sangat terkenal tu..
my next city was marbella
yes, that marbella
yang ada raja arab punya hoilday house tu..
tapi sebelum tu..me go to gibraltar!
gibraltar? mana tu?
ok people, geographically gibraltar ni dalam spain
tapi sebenarnya bawah british
kat sini pakai pound (euro pun boleh jugak..sikit)
and everybody speaks english!
siap ada double decker bus!
what a weird situation..
'negara' ni kecik je..panjang pun 5.8km je
sampaikan once you cross the immigration, you will cross the airport runway!
tempat melancong yang paling utama is the rock
the rock of gibraltar..
kat situ adala kubu perang, jalan bawah tanah, cable car and monkeys
tapi masa tu hujan so tak jadila sampai ke puncak rock tu
anyway, it was a good break from everything spanish
to walk in the drizzle towards a dirty english pub for fish n chips: priceless!
from tarifa bus 'station' wait for any bus going to algeciras
bayaran E2.00
pastu kat stesen algeciras ambik bas ke la linea, also E2.00
(aka la linea de la concepcion)
dari situ ada banyak bas ke gibraltar city center
atau jalan je lah..

to the sea we go!
from sevilla, i took a bus to my next destination: tarifa
buses to sevilla are provided by the comes company
one way is E16.90
tarifa ni the southest town in spain
meaning paling dekat dekat afrika
bayangkan, spain dan morocco tu jaraknya 14km je..
naik speed ferry 90 minutes only!
i will be there one day..
geographically, tarifa ni terletak antara 2 laut
laut mediterranean dan laut atlantik
so, this is a place where the winds meet
thus it is a very windy place (although i've been to windier ones)
making tarifa a popular spot for surfing, kite surfing, wind surfing
dan segala aktiviti lah yang menggunakan angin
also, because of the pertembungan arus dua laut ni
a lot of fish food is available
akibatnya kat sini banyakle dolfin dan ikan paus
jadi banyak le whale watching excursions kalau berminat
unfortunately, other than aktiviti di laut ni
tak banyak benda lain yang boleh dibuat
in that sense tarifa can be boring
orang spanish pun kata tarifa ni kampung
i konon nak study by the sea..tapi maleh..
anyway, if you find yourself here one day
do try the cafe con leche (coffee ngan susu) kat manduku cafe
paling sedap i tried in spain!
breakfast dia pun nice-
try the typical spanish brekkie: tostada con aceite y tomate
(toast dengan olive oil dan tomato)
crushed raw tomatoes slathered on toast macam ciabatta
oh.my.god!

spain trip part 5
|
|
pada hari kedua di sevilla
i took a day trip to cordoba naik train
the weather was amazing..
from sevilla train station
buy ticket at the regional train counter
E14.80 return
nama line is andalucia express
masa perjalanan lebih kurang 1.5 jam
kat cordoba ikut je signboard untuk ke mezquita
back from cordoba
i went to a flamenco show
tu lah kali pertama tengok flamenco
so beautiful..YOU MUST WATCH IT
kalau tak buat/tengok benda lain kat spain, go to this show!
la casa memoria, entrance E14
kena buat reservation (by phone)
ada dua show setiap malam, kena ada kat situ 30 minutes awal
sampai-sampai je, pick up ticket dan tunggu dekat pintu
(supaya dapat kerusi yang best bila dah boleh masuk)
if i stayed in sevilla longer, i would go every nite
setiap malam artis berbeza
tempat lain pun ada show jugak
ada yang show+dinner, ada yang show ala-ala nite club
but la casa memoria is where the locals go to
it is held in a patio (nak cari tempatnya pun satu challenge)
just the artists and the audience
UNFORGETTABLE..
*unfortunately video tak dibenarkan
so enlarge pic to see better

spain trip 2008 part 3
|
|
today was also another day trip: segovia
segovia ni dulu bandar pemerintahan utama kat spain
kalau sebut segovia, landmark yang paling terkenal ialah viaduct
viaduct ni dibina untuk mengangkut air
lebih kurang macam paip air orang dulu-dulu le..
so big and majestic..a grand welcoming to visitors
lagi satu monument terkenal kat segovia is the alcazar
kononnya sleeping beauty castle kat disneyland tu was based on it
bila tengok betul-betul, memang ada persamaan
(disney tak kreatif?)
bila balik ke madrid, makan tengah hari kat cafe de oriente
located next to the royal theatre
MUST GO! makanan dia semua sedap
sampai tak sempai nak amik gambar
and ALL the waiters (walaupun yang tua) were eye candy!
my waiter was so gorgeous..mmm..
to go to segovia from madrid, take metro to principe pio station
follow signboards to the bus station
it is also called the north station (estacion nord)
buy your ticket at la sepulvedana counter
many buses a day, journey takes a little over an hour each way

spain trip 2008 part 2
|

on my 2nd day in madrid, i took a day trip to toledo
sejak kecik lagi i was always fascinated by toledo
(and also toledo red by lv kot..heh)
to go to toledo, take the metro to the mendez alvaro station
upstairs is the south bus station (estacion sur), also called mendez alvaro
go to the continental counter, return ticket is E8.41
journey takes about one hour each way
once at toledo, boleh jalan kaki (naik bukit) atau naik bas
toledo tu kan, romantik sangat
bayangkan, an old town perched on a hill
surrounded by a river
narrow cobble stone streets
small, cozy restaurants
old buildings, old mosques..
read up the history before you go ya
after going to all the sights and lunch
i purposely 'got lost'
toledo is a beautiful place to get lost in
so many twists and turns..
or just sit at the garden near the alcazar
and enjoy the natural view..
(or ogle at the men in uniform practising their march across the river )

finally..a chance to update my fotopage about my recent trip to spain!!
olaaa!!!!
after so much planning, on 11/10/2008 i left kl for a 2-week break
suspennya..selamat ke aku nanti??
arrived in madrid from doha on qatar airlines
(19 hours kat doha airport-yikes!)
sampai madrid sebelum 7.30 am
masa tu gelap lagi
went to my hostel naik metro
the metro was very easy to understand
and the airport very near to the city center
stayed at metropol hostel - cukupla basic needs, E17/nite kat dorm
the location was fantastic, central to everything
kebetulan 12/10/2008 was hari kebangsaan spain
so ada perarakan berkuda etc
after check in, went for breakfast
at the famous chocolateria san gines - must go!
gotta try them churros - sinful! (dahaga lak lepas makan)
lepas tu terus walked around the city
fyi, the center of madrid is the highest capital in europe
makin menjauhi pusat bandar jalannya menurun bukit
tapi very safe (i je yang paranoid-perasan ada orang nak rompak aku )
and the madrilenos are very friendly
walaupun dia tak reti cakap english
had lunch at maoz, chain vegetarian restaurant -sedap..
balik hostel pukul 3, konon nak rest dan sambung kul 5
tapi sedar-sedar, dah pukul 9 malam!
nevermind, call the day off je lah
and save energy for tomorrow..

|
|
this is an amazing restaurant for lovers of moroccan food
or middle eastern food
or food..
same row as mcd jalan bukit bintang (yes, THAT mcd)
from mcd, take a few steps down jalan bb, it's on the 1st floor
nearest parking is at fortuna hotel
the food I have tried so far are damn good;
even the fries and bawang were yummy!
below are the stars:
chicken sambosa
arabic salad
fetuch
addas soup
royal grill
arrayes
lamb tajine with prunes
lamb bamyeh
lemon-mint juice
moroccan mint tea
i will update the list if i go there again ah..
prices reasonable and the portions very satisfying
restaurant is clean too and interior is not the seedy type
fyi, there will be a 2nd tajine
also along jalan bb, right across lot 10 between naab and tarbush
fyi, this is my 2nd time there in less than 2 months!
