rupa-rupanya khadijah ibrahim ada buat show sempena hari ibu!
so took advantage to celebrate birthday kak ros
khaty was so beautiful..
tall and slim..tak berubah pun..
later, a drum beating session followed
superfun..what a blast!

perhentian tak henti-henti
|
|
ever since my best fren muna ajak me to perhentian in 2006,
it seems that i make it there every year without fail!
plan ke tak plan ke, muna ikut ke tak ke..macam dah wajib pergi pulak
for this year, i was worried the 3 days and 2 nites would not be sufficient
but at least i had enough dosage of perhentian to last me till next year
and made new frenz too
did the usual round of swimming, snorkelling, eating, napping..
..and i never get tired of them!
this time somebody caught a shark! and many sotongs too! 
can you believe that?? berbakat sungguh budak2 baru ni..
stayed at kota baru for a nite in a rumah rakit

pagi esoknya baru ke pulau
and stopped by at hai peng, kemaman on the back to kl
the perfect holiday..

ooo..cenggitu rupanya baby shower ni..
met many new frenz too
apparently, in a baby shower topik-topik perbualan termasuklah
preparation for new baby (yikes!) 
c-section vs natural birth (yikes!) 
post-natal body recovery (yikes!) 
and latest gossip.. 
pastu ada sesi melukis dan mewarna
-last words for baby and mummy before d-day
included was a cracker session
and a beautiful cake to be shared among all..
thank you to hana and farah for a job well done

desaru visit 2008
|
|
on a recent work trip
i had the opportunity to visit desaru
i say opportunity because i believe desaru is one of those places
that malaysians don't pay attention to
due to its isolated location
in an other word terperuk 
however, as a result of this isolated-ness,
desaru is also a very peaceful and calm holiday spot
which has been unfairly neglected since the 1997 economic crisis
(tapi kalau popular nanti mahal pulak..)
anyway, desaru was clean and the sea strong waves
but since it's terperuk, it does get a bit too quiet at nite
especially when you're driving (spooky la jugak..)
but i suppose that would be perfect
for people who want to escape the city, honeymooners, writers, the sick..
oh ya, i stayed at the golden beach resort
a bit old, but nice grounds - breakfast buffet was too plain though
for dinner the nearest choices away from the hotel
would be the restaurants in felda penawar
2-3 nites in desaru would be sufficient

perjalanan mengambil masa 7 jam
sebaik-baik sampai je kat madrid terus tinggal beg kat hostel
dan pergi shopping!!!
heeii..tak cukup masa dan memang penat..nak makan pun tak sempat
packing was quite challenge as well..
strangely, i felt ready to go home (biasanya meronta-ronta tak nak balik)
so on sunday, 26/11/2008, i stepped out of my hostel room with a big smile
tapi..banyak pulak benda nak buat bila dah sampai kl:
exam! facial! pay utility bills! massage! pay credit card bills (o-oh..)!
manipedi (my poor feet..)! buy grocery! pick up baju kat dry cleaner's!
bla, bla, bla..suddenly tension balik..
ok, maleh nak cerita panjang lagi,
here's a rumusan of my trip:
madrid or barcelona?: barcelona!!!
if i could have one more day?: barcelona..
just enuf time: valencia
la..ni je ke..: tarifa
unforgettable: flamenco at casa de la memoria & alhambra
kalau ada orang nak pergi spain nak kirim ni: xuixo!!!

spain trip 2008 part 13
|
|
for the valencia-barcelona bus, i took the eurobus
E30.03 one way, a 5-hour journey
my last stop in spain before returning to madrid: barcelona
barcelona ni lagi happening dan seronok daripada madrid
it has a life of its own..
semua bangunan kat sini macam terlebih bajet
suka-suka je buat design/facade yang melampau-lampau
i went to las ramblas, boqueria market, passeig gracia, etc etc
and all the gaudi monuments
(gaudi makes it fun for us non artsy-fartsy people) 
one word about la sagrada familia though;
if you are not one of the below, tengok dari luar pun dah cukup
1. suka gila ambik gambar
2. terlebih duit
3. terlebih masa/bosan
4. suka gila tengok details bangunan (that's me)
the reason being, mahal jugak nak masuk situ
E10 for an unfinished building
so tak semua bahagian bangunan boleh pergi
sebab masih dalam pembinaan
pastu kalau nak naik lif sampai ke atas sekali kena tambah E2.50
(you have to remember this construction is supported by voluntary funding)
tapi parc guell kena pergi, especially if the weather is nice
masuk free and park tu sendiri plus the view is so berbaloi
i can spend a whole day there..make sure you go too!
being me, i went to all the popular cafes
i got hooked on this pastry called xuixo
rupa macam croissant tapi bentuk silinder
kat dalam ada custard cream..mmmMMmmm! - must try!
yang sedap kat cafe pintxos kat dalam boqueria market
(kat situ benda lain pun sedap)
dan kat satu pastry shop dekat dengan hospital st pau
near the main entrance, at the corner of the streets
lagi kecik tapi lagi power! and do try their anchovy pizza..to die for!
sebelah malam i went to a show at the magical fountain
with my new korean frenz
the show is on every friday nite, show lasts for two hours; no charges

spain trip 2008 part 12

|
after having a blast in granada
i took the next bus to barcelona
but since barcelona is 12 hours away
i stopped at valencia in between
granada-valencia: E41.55 one-way
perjalanan 7 jam
not many places of interest
tapi agak besar dan lebih moden daripada i bayangkan
tempat yang paling i suka is the mercado central
basically a pasar yang jual macam-macam makanan
valencia is famous for..valencia oranges!
but honestly, rasa biasa je..
other than oranges, i bought almonds
a bit different from the normal ones
so delicious..you should buy it
and try also muscatel (anggur warna hijau)
ada rasa mangga sikit, not your typical grape taste
and of course paella
(which i believe is the most overrated spanish dish)

dari malaga ke granada: naik bas alsina sur
one way is E9.67, journey is 2 hours
ok folks..the climax of my trip: LA ALHAMBRA
kali pertama tengok gambar alhambra ialah masa kecik-kecik dulu
kalendar ke apa ntah, tapi lawa sangat
when i saw the picture, i said i MUST go there
and so i planned this trip around it
when the day finally came, the weather was perfect, no long queue
and i even met a new friend who continued travelling with me in barcelona
when you get there you will be awed by the intricate details of the complex
macamana orang zaman tu boleh buat something like this???
everything is so beautiful, macam gila nak ambik gambar
semua sudut lawa, takut rugi pulak tak snap
sikit lagi nak habis bateri kamera
in alhambra it is good to know a few things
1. don't touch anything - some of them are a thousand years old!
2. baik pergi masa weekday, pagi
3. tak book in advance pun takpa
4. gerenti ambik banyak gambar-bawak extra bateri kamera tu kalau perlu
5. make sure ikut entry time ke nasrid palace; kalau tak kena beli tiket baru
6. masuk alcazaba boleh sekali je, same with nasrid palace
7. nak sampai ke alhambra tu kena naik bukit yang mencabar..
alhambra terdiri daripada beberapa bahagian
the alcazaba, nasrid palace, carlos v palace dan generalife gardens
general ticket is E12
general bermaksud boleh pergi semua kecuali tempat tadi kecuali muzium
masa untuk explore seluruh alhambra ni minimum 3 jam
dok sehari dalam tu pun ok
i took the carlos v palace-alcazaba-nasrid palace-generalife gardens route
what to do bila dah habis??
enjoy the alhambra from another point of view!
after the alhambra, we went to mirador de san nicolas
tempat ni opposite alhambra, on another hilltop
so turun bukit naik bukit la hari tu (ada public transport)
but you will not regret it..it is so berbaloi..ni pun satu gerenti jugak
satu benda yang i tak tunjuk kat sini
are the cats of the alhambra!
they are the true owners..
royalties of a fort passed down to them from the cats of the sultans
take out a morsel of food
and see what happens!
this was the best day of this year..

before showing you my next entry
i dedicate this page to 2 eating places i went to while i was there
first was arrayanes, second was as-sirat
if you search these two on the internet you will find many good/bad reviews
but from my visit, they are places you must go!
i love islamic/moorish art
and it is heavily reflected at these places
drapes, candle light, strong colors..
mysterious, sexy, seductive..
granada=alhambra; so attending these eateries keeps the mood alive
kalau pergi, mesti puas hati
